What this mod does
Reverse Lights – farther, wider, brighter is a mod by Eddie Yantz for American Truck Simulator that improves the reverse lights. They reach farther, cover a wider area and are brighter, so you can see the dock or trailer better when maneuvering at night. It has over 20,000 subscribers.
Which trucks it works with
All trucks that follow the SCS file structure, meaning the stock ones and the mods that respect it. The author also has a version for Euro Truck Simulator 2.
Graphics quality
The author passes on a player’s tip: with graphics on low, the stock reverse lights don’t light up the area behind the truck, so the mod won’t show either. On medium quality it works fine.
Version and compatibility
The description doesn’t list a version. In March 2026, asked whether it worked on 1.58, the author said yes. He also said it’s compatible with Real Good Headlights for SCS Trucks and that load order doesn’t matter.
Known issues
In October 2026 a player said he couldn’t tell the difference, and the author replied that he’d look into it, because SCS has changed a lot of things. Another player said the same day that it worked fine for him. The file is only about 16 KB.

How to install it
- Open the "Reverse Lights - farther, wider, brighter" page on Steam Workshop and click "Subscribe".
- Launch American Truck Simulator and wait for Steam to finish the download.
- Open your profile's Mod Manager and enable the mod.
- If your graphics are on low, raise the quality to medium so the reverse lights light up.
Common problems
I can't see the change
On low graphics the reverse lights don't light anything up; raise them to medium.
Is it compatible with Real Good Headlights?
Yes, according to the author, and load order doesn't matter.
Does it work on modded trucks?
On those that follow the SCS file structure.
