Yes, BeamNG.drive is out on PS5: it launched on October 19, 2026 in early access for €21.99 ($24.99 in the United States), on PS5 only; there’s no PS4 or Xbox version. It has the same damage physics as version 0.40 on PC, local split-screen for up to 4 players and support for several steering wheels, but no mods, no world editor, no VR and no online multiplayer at launch. On the PlayStation Store it’s rated 4.85 out of 5 from more than 11,000 ratings (October 22, 2026).
Available now (October 19, 2026): on the Spanish PlayStation Store it costs €21.99 (in the US, $24.99, the same price as on PC). The store page says it’s enhanced for PS5 Pro, supports 1 to 4 local players, can be played offline and uses the DualSense’s haptic feedback and adaptive triggers. It’s rated PEGI 3. As announced, it launches without mods or virtual reality; the store doesn’t list the download size; Fanatec, Logitech and Thrustmaster steering wheels are listed as supported in the official 0.40 patch notes.
This guide sums up what BeamNG and PlayStation have officially confirmed. If you’re reading it after launch, check the final section: we tell you where to see whether anything has changed.
Release date and official status
BeamNG announced the console version on May 28, 2026 on the official PlayStation Blog, in a post by its CEO, Thomas Fischer. On September 24, 2026 it published the final date on its website: October 19, 2026, on PS5 only.
The PlayStation Store page says the game launches in early access on PlayStation, meaning it’s still in active development, just like the PC version, which has been in early access on Steam since 2015. For PC, BeamNG announced version 0.40 for the same dates.
Price and editions
It’s a paid game, not free. As of October 2026, the PlayStation Store page shows only one edition (the PS5 version) and lets you add it to your wishlist; BeamNG hasn’t announced special editions or paid DLC for console.
What the PS5 version includes compared with PC
The official content shares the same core as the PC version: soft-body physics, realistic damage and customization of every part of the car (engine, suspension, transmission, wheels and tires). The differences are in mods, VR and the creation tools.
| Feature | PS5 (launch) | PC (Steam) |
|---|---|---|
| Maps | 12 open-world environments | 12 official environments, plus community maps |
| Vehicles | Dozens of vehicles and around a thousand configurations, plus a new vehicle from day one | The same official ones, plus community cars |
| Modes | Free Roam (with optional traffic), scenarios, time trials and career mode | The same |
| Mods | No | Yes, with a built-in official repository |
| World Editor | Not planned | Yes |
| Virtual reality | Not at launch | Yes (OpenXR and Vulkan) |
| Local split-screen | Yes, 1 to 4 players according to the store page | Announced with version 0.40 |
| Online multiplayer | No | Not official; the BeamMP mod exists |
The PlayStation Store page also lists offline play, DualSense haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, and 17 accessibility options.
Will BeamNG.drive on PS5 have mods?
Not at launch. BeamNG said so clearly in its announcement: mods and VR won’t be available when the game comes out. In the release date announcement it explained that supporting mods on console is a particular challenge, that it’s looking into options and that it can’t confirm any dates. It also made clear that creation tools like the World Editor are not planned for PS5.
In the long run, the company says it’s aiming for feature parity across platforms «where possible», without giving timelines or scope. So, as of October 2026, there’s no official repository or curated selection of mods for console. If you want mods, the only way right now is the PC version, where you install them from the official repository or as .zip files; we explain how in how to install mods in BeamNG.drive.
Performance on PS5 and PS5 Pro
BeamNG has confirmed that the 0.40 update adds FSR 3 (AMD’s upscaling) on the standard PS5 and PSSR (PlayStation’s AI upscaling) on PS5 Pro. As of October 2026 it hasn’t published official frame rate or resolution figures, so be wary of numbers going around before real reviews come out.
According to BeamNG, bringing its physics engine to console required a lot of optimization, and some of that work has also carried over to the PC version.
Controllers and steering wheels
The game is played with the DualSense, with haptic feedback and adaptive triggers. The official 0.40 patch notes (October 19, 2026) also list support for Fanatec, Logitech and Thrustmaster steering wheels on PS5; check the manufacturer’s website to make sure your specific model works with PS5. On PC, steering wheels have been officially supported for years.
Is BeamNG.drive coming to Xbox?
No Xbox version has been announced. The only confirmed console is PS5. In its FAQ, BeamNG says it can’t confirm whether the game will come to other platforms in the future. If someone sells you an «Xbox version», it isn’t official.
Cross-progression and cross-buy
BeamNG hasn’t announced cross-progression or cross-buy between PC and PS5. Until there’s an official announcement, assume they’re separate purchases with separate saves. Since the game has no official online multiplayer, there’s no crossplay either. BeamMP, the most popular multiplayer mod, only works on PC: you’ll find its page at BeamMP.
How to check whether anything has changed
Since it’s in early access, the PS5 version will get updates just like the PC version. To see the latest, check the news section on beamng.com, where the notes for each version are published, and the game’s PlayStation Store page. If mods come to console, they’ll announce it there first. If you’re torn between console and PC, check the BeamNG.drive PC requirements. Meanwhile, if you play on PC, you can browse the car mods and maps we recommend in BeamNG on holymod.
