No, BeamNG.drive isn’t free and has no official demo. As of October 22, 2026 it costs €22.50 on Steam (PC) and €21.99 on PS5 ($24.99 in the United States), in early access on both. What is free: every update (the latest, 0.40, from October 19, 2026), the thousands of mods in the official Repository and BeamMP multiplayer on PC. «BeamNG drive free download» sites hand out pirated copies that don’t work with BeamMP and may come with malware.
Is there an official demo or free version?
Not today. The BeamNG.drive Steam page doesn’t offer a demo and the official website doesn’t have a trial version either. The confusion goes way back: in August 2013 BeamNG released a free tech demo of about 94 MB with a test map full of ramps and obstacles to show off its physics engine. It was a technical demonstration that predates the current game, which went on sale in early access on Steam on May 29, 2015, and it looks nothing like what you get now. If you see a «demo» or a «free BeamNG» on any site other than beamng.com or an official store, be suspicious.
There’s no free mobile version either: BeamNG.drive isn’t on Android or iPhone, and any APK that promises it is fake. We explain it in BeamNG.drive on mobile.
Where to buy it legally
- Steam: the main store. The listing is still marked as early access, includes the game in both Spain and Latin American Spanish, and lists the Steam Families feature.
- Epic Games Store: the game arrived on this store in September 2024.
- Humble: BeamNG mentions it in its FAQ as an official store alongside Steam.
According to the official FAQ, the game has no DRM: you can download it from Steam or Humble and install it as many times as you like. Early access updates download at no cost to the copy you already own. Only buy from these stores or from the ones BeamNG’s own website links to. Before buying, check that your PC can run it with the guide to BeamNG.drive system requirements. If you play on console, see the PS5 version, which launches in early access.

Wait for a sale
BeamNG recommends adding the game to your wishlist so the store lets you know when it’s on sale. Steam and Epic often include it in their seasonal sales. We don’t list sale prices because they change; check the store when you’re ready to buy.
Steam Families
Since the Steam listing includes the Steam Families feature, a family member can share their copy with you without you buying it. The main rules:
- A family supports up to six accounts and is meant for people living in the same household.
- Each copy can only be used by one person at a time. If your brother is playing, you can’t open his BeamNG.drive.
- Members have to be in the same Steam region.
- If you leave a family, you have to wait a year before joining another one or creating a new one.
- Everyone keeps their own cloud saves, achievements and mods.
Refund if you’re not sold on it
Steam refunds almost any purchase if you request it within 14 days and have played less than two hours. It’s a legal way to test whether your PC can handle the game and whether you like it.
Official giveaways
BeamNG occasionally gives away copies of the game at community events it runs on its official Discord and forums. Be wary of any giveaway that doesn’t come from those channels.
Why to avoid «BeamNG drive free download» sites
Downloading the game from a pirate site isn’t a way to play for free: it infringes BeamNG’s rights and it’s also a real risk to your PC. Kaspersky detected over 19 million attempts to download malware disguised as popular games between April 2024 and March 2025. Attackers use exactly what these users are looking for: cracks, fake installers and supposed mods. What usually comes inside is trojans, password stealers and cryptocurrency miners.
Even if the file had nothing malicious in it, you’d miss out on the best parts of the game. BeamMP’s documentation warns that multiplayer doesn’t work with pirated or outdated copies, and a pirated copy doesn’t get the official updates that keep the Repository and mods current.
What is free in BeamNG.drive
- Mods from the official Repository: BeamNG has its own repository, on the web and in-game, with thousands of vehicles, maps, skins and tools, and it downloads mod updates automatically. When we checked, it had over 2,000 vehicles and nearly 1,000 maps. - Online multiplayer with BeamMP: BeamNG.drive doesn’t come with official online multiplayer. BeamMP is a free, open-source mod that adds it, with its own launcher and server browser. You need a legal, up-to-date copy of the game. It has optional paid extras for anyone who wants to support the project.
- Multiseat: the official local multiplayer mode, so several people can each drive their own vehicle on the same screen.
- World Editor: it comes with the game and lets you create or modify maps without paying anything extra.

There’s no sign of it. In its FAQ, BeamNG says it has no plans to lower the price or make it free. What it does do is show up in sales, so add it to your wishlist.
