Item Bags for Stardew Valley

What this mod does

Item Bags, by SlayerDharok, adds bags that store other items and take up just one inventory slot. Unlike chests, they keep working while you carry them, so they’re ideal for the mines or foraging.

Bag types

• Standard bags by item type: gems, smithing, minerals, resources, seeds, fish, crops, artifacts, food and more, in five sizes.
• Bundle Bag: holds whatever you still need for the Community Center bundles.
• Rucksacks: almost any stackable item.
• Omni Bags: hold other bags.

You buy them at Pierre’s, Clint’s, Robin’s, Willy’s and Marnie’s shops and from other vendors, and monsters sometimes drop them. With autofill, whatever you pick up goes straight into the bag.

Requirements and compatibility

It requires SMAPI and SpaceCore 1.26.1 or later. Version 3.1.0 (May 5, 2025, 289 KB) is for 1.6.10 or later; 3.0.11 added compatibility with Better Game Menu and controller support. It works alongside Better Crafting, and Nexus tags it with Spanish.

Author’s warnings: it probably won’t work well in multiplayer (there are cases of desync), and the Android version hasn’t been maintained for a long time. Prices and capacities are adjusted in the config.json.

Requirements

• Stardew Valley 1.6.10 or later (PC)
• SMAPI 4.x (the latest version)
• SpaceCore 1.26.1 or later

How to install it

1. Install SMAPI first (see its page) and launch the game once with it to make sure it works.
2. Also install SpaceCore 1.26.1 or later (see its page).
3. Open the Item Bags page on Nexus Mods, go to the Files tab and click Manual download on the main file (ItemBags 3.1.0 (PC)). You need a free Nexus account to download.
4. Unzip the .zip outside the game folder and move the resulting folder into the Mods folder, inside the game folder.
5. Launch the game with SMAPI and visit Pierre's shop: you'll see the bags for sale.
