What this mod does
Item Extensions, by mistyspring, is a 1.6-exclusive framework that expands what items added by other mods can do. According to Nexus, almost 100 mods use it; the author points to Visit Mount Vapius as an example. On its own it does nothing.
What it lets mods do
- Custom resources: custom ore nodes and large rocks (clumps).
- Change what you get from panning, the train or treasure.
- Trades that require more than one item.
- Custom mixed seeds, eating or drinking animations, and actions when using items from the menu.
Requirements and compatibility
It only needs SMAPI. Version 1.16.0 (July 4, 2025, 153 KB) was updated for 1.6.15 and fixes a bug with ore nodes. The page doesn’t mention multiplayer or Android. For C# mods it offers an API documented on GitHub.
Under Optional files there are Content Patcher templates for creators (nodes, large rocks, mixed seeds, trades); as a player you don’t need them. The page has a Spanish tag, but it doesn’t link to any Spanish translation.

Requirements
- Stardew Valley 1.6.15 (PC)
- SMAPI 4.2 or later
- A mod that uses it (it does nothing on its own)
How to install it
- Install SMAPI first (see its mod page) and launch the game with it once to make sure it works.
- Open the Item Extensions page on Nexus Mods, go to the Files tab and click Manual download on the main file (Item Extensions 1.16.0). You need a free Nexus account to download.
- Unzip the .zip outside the game folder and move the resulting folder into the Mods folder, inside the game folder.
- Launch the game with SMAPI and check in the console that Item Extensions shows up in the list of loaded mods with no red errors.
