What this mod does
Unique Children, by Shaklin, makes the farmer’s children look like their spouse. In the base game every child uses the same look; with this mod each spouse has their own baby and toddler sprites.
What it adds
- Sprites for the base-game spouses, Stardew Valley Expanded and Ridgeside Village, with permission from those teams to use their hairstyles.
- Babies that look different depending on whether they’re a boy or a girl, a sleeping sprite and optional seasonal and festival outfits, including a Spirit’s Eve costume.
- Info on each child in the social menu, where you can also rename them.
- Works with the children you already have and with those born later.
Configuration and compatibility
It only requires SMAPI. After you load your save, a children.json is created where you can change each child’s name, gender, skin tone or sprite folder; an optional file includes a tool for editing it. Version 4.3 (January 18, 2026, 4.5 MB) has a separate Android version.
In multiplayer, everyone needs the mod and the same sprites. It’s compatible with Unique Children Talk and Immersive Family. With multiple-spouse mods it should work as long as they don’t turn the children into NPCs or change their look.

Common problems
Does it work with children I already have?
Yes. It applies to existing children and to those born later.
Does it have sprites for spouses from other mods?
It includes SVE and Ridgeside Village; other spouses can get sprites through Content Patcher.
Does it work with multiple-spouse mods?
It should, as long as those mods don't turn the children into NPCs or change their look, according to the author.
