Lasting Conversation Topics for Stardew Valley

What this mod does

Lasting Conversation Topics, by sophiesalacia (co-author of Sunberry Village), extends Stardew Valley’s «conversation topics.» In the base game, when something important happens the villagers talk about it for a few days and then forget; if you don’t talk to everyone every day, you miss a lot of that dialogue.

What it does

• Extends how long topics last so villagers can bring them up later.
• By default it only extends the introduction topic, which is very handy with characters who arrive in town late, like Kent.
• The optional content pack by LenneDalben, highly recommended by the author, also extends base-game topics such as starting and finishing the Community Center, completing specific bundles or the renovation of Pam’s house.
• That pack also includes topics from mods such as More Conversation Topics or Platonic Letters.

Compatibility

Version 0.3.0 (March 24, 2024) is updated for 1.6 and SMAPI 4.0.0, as is content pack 1.1.0; 0.2.1 is for 1.5.6 and no longer gets fixes. The page also requires Content Patcher. It works in single-player and multiplayer, although multiplayer hasn’t been tested thoroughly; the author has only tested it on Windows. It works well with mods that add lots of characters, like Stardew Valley Expanded. It has no listed translations.

Requirements

• Stardew Valley 1.6.x (tested on Windows)
• SMAPI 4.0.0 or later
• Content Patcher

How to install it

1. Install SMAPI and Content Patcher first (see their mod pages) and launch the game once with SMAPI to make sure everything loads.
2. Open the Lasting Conversation Topics page on Nexus Mods, go to the Files tab and click Manual download on the main file (Lasting Conversation Topics 0.3.0). You need a free Nexus account to download.
3. Extract the .zip outside the game folder and move the resulting folder into the Mods folder, inside the game folder.
4. Also download the optional Lasting CTs Content Pack 1.1.0 (Optional files) and copy it into the Mods folder: it's the one that extends most topics.
5. Launch the game with SMAPI and check the console to make sure the mod and its content pack load without red errors.
