Immersive Family – A Children’s Events Expansion for Stardew Valley

What this mod does

Immersive Family, by xiaoleiwen, puts the farmer’s family in the spotlight. In the base game the kids barely have a presence; this mod adds scenes starting from the birth of your first baby and has the villagers talk about your family life.

What it adds

• 35 new events: 23 for the base game and 12 crossovers with Stardew Valley Expanded, Ridgeside Village, East Scarp and several standalone NPCs.
• Over 340 villager lines, written as conversation topics so they don’t replace other mods’ dialogue.
• Options for the children’s names, what they call you and your spouse, a dark-skinned child sprite and Alternative Textures compatibility.

Requirements and compatibility

It requires SMAPI, Content Patcher, Custom Tokens and Generic Mod Config Menu, and Lasting Conversation Topics is recommended. Version 2.2.7 (November 5, 2025) comes in two files: a portrait version and a speech bubble version; install only one. Both include Spanish.

You can add it mid-save, but the events start with the first baby’s event. It works best with spouses that have generic dialogue; Unique Children is fully compatible, while LittleNPCs isn’t if your kids have already been turned into NPCs. It doesn’t work with more than two children, or with two of the same gender. It doesn’t support multiplayer.

Requirements

• Recommended: Lasting Conversation Topics
• Single-player only

How to install it

1. Install SMAPI and Content Patcher first (see their mod pages) and launch the game once with SMAPI to check that everything loads.
2. Install Custom Tokens, Generic Mod Config Menu and, if you want, Lasting Conversation Topics (all on Nexus).
3. Open the Immersive Family page on Nexus Mods, go to the Files tab and click Manual download on the main file (Immersive Family (Portrait Version) or (Speech Bubble Version) 2.2.7, only one of the two). You need a free Nexus account to download.
4. Unzip the .zip outside the game folder and move the resulting folder into the Mods folder, inside the game folder.
5. Before loading your save, check the settings (children's names and what they call you) in Generic Mod Config Menu.
6. If you already have older kids, talk to Robin first so the crib is available, as the author explains.
