Ferrari 296 GTB eDrive for Assetto Corsa EVO

What this mod does

The real Ferrari 296 GTB is a plug-in hybrid that can run on its electric motor alone thanks to eDrive mode. That mode doesn’t exist in Assetto Corsa EVO. This mod by VOX_France adds it as a fourth driving mode on the official car, without touching the other three: Qualify, Performance and Hybrid.

What changes in eDrive

• Electric motor only, 122 kW, top speed of 135 km/h and a 7.45 kWh battery.
• Its own instrument cluster, with a power band and an eD/R/N indicator.
• The V6, turbo and exhaust pops are muted, and you hear the electric motor.
• Reverse works in eDrive.

How it works

It’s an executable that reversibly modifies the game’s content package and leaves other mods alone. Every time you launch, it asks whether you want eDrive, for single-player, or the stock car, for multiplayer, because servers reject modified files. If the game updates, the mod disables itself and EVO works as usual.

Known limitations

You hear the starter motor when switching on in eDrive, and the V6 comes back abruptly when you leave that mode. Also, reverse only works at maneuvering speed and, with an empty battery, the car doesn’t switch to Hybrid on its own. The author doesn’t guarantee future updates. It’s an unofficial mod, not affiliated with Kunos, 505 Games or Ferrari.

• Assetto Corsa EVO 0.9.1 on PC (Steam)
• The in-game Ferrari 296 GTB
• Windows

How to install it

1. Close Assetto Corsa EVO.
2. Download the file from OverTake.gg and extract it.
3. Run VX296-eDrive.exe and click YES.
4. If you want, paste the copied launch option into Steam > Assetto Corsa EVO > Properties > Launch Options.
5. When you open the game, choose YES for eDrive (single-player) or NO for the stock car (multiplayer).
6. To uninstall it, run the .exe again and click NO.
