The Assetto Corsa EVO SDK is KUNOS’s official, free kit for creating cars for the game. It arrived on June 3, 2026 with update 0.7 and downloads from Steam as a separate tool called «Assetto Corsa EVO SDK»: turn on the «Tools» filter in your Library and it shows up if you own the game. As of October 27, 2026, with EVO on version 0.9.1, it only handles cars. Track tools are still announced with no date, and liveries have used a separate system since 0.8. Each car is packed into a single .kspkg file.
What the Assetto Corsa EVO SDK is
KUNOS introduced it as the «Editor Tool», the first official release of the EVO SDK. According to the studio, it uses a workflow closely aligned with the one its own team uses: PBR materials, full LOD (level of detail) management and aftermarket parts with visual and mechanical variants. KUNOS also warned that it’s meant for experienced, technically skilled users. You don’t need it to install other people’s cars; for that, just follow our guide on how to install mods in Assetto Corsa EVO.
How the SDK has changed with each update
| Date | EVO version | What changed for creators | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Jun 3, 2026 | 0.7 | First SDK release (car editor); cars work in single player only | assettocorsa.gg |
| Jul 8, 2026 | 0.8 | Community cars in multiplayer with SHA verification, plus the external livery system | assettocorsa.gg |
| Jul 22, 2026 | 0.8.1 | Servers read cars from the Saved Games\ACE-Server folder and report missing cars more clearly | 505 Games |
| Aug 26, 2026 | 0.9 | Fixed a bug that stopped external liveries from applying to a saved car | 505 Games |
| Dec 9, 2026 | Next | Eifel Free Roam arrives; no SDK news announced | OverTake |
What it can and can’t do
- New cars: yes. Model, materials, LODs and variants. Since 0.8 they work online on servers that have the same car.
- Liveries: not from the SDK. Since 0.8 there’s an official external livery system, used by tools like LiveryLab Evo and FORC3 Designer.
- Tracks: not yet. With 0.7, KUNOS said track tools would come «at a later stage» and hasn’t given a date. The few community tracks, like HDC The Yard Drift Park, install with the author’s own installer, not with the SDK.
How to download the Assetto Corsa EVO SDK on Steam
- Make sure you own Assetto Corsa EVO on Steam and update it to the latest version.
- Open your Library. In the drop-down above the game list, check «Tools».
- Find Assetto Corsa EVO SDK (SteamDB lists it as a tool with ID 4813350) and install it.
- Launch it from your Library. KUNOS released tutorials and sample projects alongside it to get you started.
Basic steps to export a car to .kspkg
This is the general workflow. The technical details (scale, part names, hierarchy) are in the official documentation, and they change during Early Access.
- Build the model in your 3D software. According to the documentation creators work from, the editor takes FBX meshes with a specific hierarchy and material setup.
- Import the content into the SDK. The interface is organized into texture, material, mesh and «actor» containers, with a content browser and preview options.
- Set up PBR materials and LODs, and add aftermarket variants if you want them.
- Export the car. The SDK packs it into a single .kspkg file.
- Test it in single player: copy the .kspkg, loose, into
C:\Users\<your user>\Saved Games\ACE\mods(create it if it doesn’t exist) and look for it in car selection. - For servers, export with the current version. With 0.8.1, cars had to be re-exported to generate the .json file the server needs. The admin copies the car into
Saved Games\ACE-Server\mods, and every driver needs the exact same version.
Requirements
- Assetto Corsa EVO on Steam (Windows PC only). Without the game, the tool won’t show up.
- Skills in 3D modeling, PBR texturing and vehicle physics.
- KUNOS hasn’t published separate hardware requirements for the SDK. As a reference, check the Assetto Corsa EVO system requirements.
- The rights to whatever you publish: KUNOS and Digital Bros say they aren’t responsible for community content that infringes trademarks or rules.
What not to do
The SDK is for your own content. Don’t publish or download conversions of KUNOS cars from the original Assetto Corsa, models or sounds ripped from other games, or cars extracted from EVO’s official .kspkg files. That’s why Holymod only links original cars from their own creators, like the Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Competizione «Daytona», built with the official SDK, or the Abarth 1000 TCR.

Frequently asked questions
Is the Assetto Corsa EVO SDK free?
Yes. Every Assetto Corsa EVO owner has had it as a free Steam tool since June 3, 2026. There’s no paid version.
Can you make tracks with the EVO SDK?
No. As of October 27, 2026, the SDK only handles cars. KUNOS has announced track tools for later, with no date.
Do SDK cars work online?
Yes, since 0.8 (July 8, 2026), on servers that have the car installed. The server checks the SHA, so everyone needs the same version.
Where does the .kspkg file go?
In Saved Games\ACE\mods, inside your Windows user folder, with no subfolders. On a dedicated server it goes in Saved Games\ACE-Server\mods.
Can I bring cars from the original Assetto Corsa into EVO?
Only if the car is yours or its creator gave you permission. Converting cars from KUNOS or other modders without permission isn’t legal, and Holymod doesn’t link that content.
