Source: Assetto Corsa EVO’s Steam page, checked on October 22, 2026. Since it’s in Early Access, KUNOS may change them, and it warns that the price may also go up during this phase (it currently costs 39,99 € on Steam Spain).

What they mean in practice

  • 8 GB of video memory is the starting point, even at minimum. With less, the game isn’t officially supported.
  • The SSD isn’t optional: Steam marks it as required in both columns. Don’t install it on a mechanical hard drive.
  • 16 GB of RAM in both cases. Notice that the minimum CPU (i7-8700K) was high-end in its day: EVO is pretty CPU-hungry.
  • Windows only. There’s no official Mac or Linux version, and no console version for now. We cover it in the Assetto Corsa EVO on PS5 and Xbox guide.

VR requirements

Steam lists support for SteamVR, Oculus VR and OpenXR, but doesn’t publish separate VR requirements or a list of specific headsets. What KUNOS did do is rebuild VR in version 0.8 (July 2026) so it adapts better to each system. More on that below.

Will the requirements change with Free Roam?

The 0.10 update, planned for December 9, 2026, will bring the first phase of Free Roam: the Eifel region and the Nordschleife at 1:1 scale. As of October 22, 2026, KUNOS hasn’t said whether the requirements will change or how much extra space it will take. We’ll update this when there’s official data; in the meantime, you can follow the schedule in the Assetto Corsa EVO roadmap.

Best graphics settings for Assetto Corsa EVO

There’s no perfect setup for every PC, and we won’t give you FPS numbers that depend on your hardware. What we can tell you is what KUNOS has changed in each version and which settings turned out to be the most expensive in published tests.

1. Start with upscaling: DLSS or FSR

0.5 (February 2026) updated the game to DLSS 4.5, and 0.9 added temporal dithering that, according to KUNOS, works better with DLSS and FSR. Using an upscaler is the most direct way to gain performance without touching anything else. As a guideline, GTPlanet’s optimization guide (March 2026) recommends:

  • 1080p: Quality or Ultra Quality mode.
  • 1440p: Quality or Balanced.
  • 4K: Performance.

The same guide points out two caveats: with FSR it saw artifacts on the steering wheel in the cockpit, and the DLSS 4.5 Transformer model costs more on RTX 20 and 30 series cards than on newer ones. If you have one of those cards, compare before sticking with it.

2. The heaviest settings

According to those GTPlanet tests, run on a version before 0.9, these are the settings where dropping a notch makes the most difference:

  • Car reflections: Ultra has a noticeable cost; Medium or High is the sweet spot.
  • Shadows: Medium or High.
  • Ambient occlusion: on Low you barely see a difference from the higher levels.
  • Grass density and cloud quality: Low or off.
  • Mirrors: resolution and level of detail on Medium, with optimized rendering turned on.
  • Native anti-aliasing (DLAA or AMD equivalent): improves the image, but costs performance.

Since then, 0.9 has optimized exactly the car mirrors and cubemaps, the windshield and the shadows (with shadow receiver culling that only works on a monitor, not in VR), plus general renderer improvements. So you may have more headroom now than in those tests.

3. Textures and video memory

0.8 introduced a system that adjusts texture and mesh loading in real time based on a video memory budget. If your card is tight on VRAM, this is where ACEvoPerf helps the most, by distributing that memory better based on your card and resolution.

4. Image and exposure

0.9 added an exposure control to the View Settings page, the «exposure fusion» effect, which mimics how the eye sees, and post-processing presets with a live preview. According to the notes they don’t meaningfully affect performance, but they change the game’s look a lot. Try them before reaching for external filters.

VR settings

0.8 rebuilt VR. According to KUNOS, these are the settings you have now:

  • Dedicated video profile: VR keeps its settings separate from the monitor ones, so you can lower quality in the headset without losing it on your monitor.
  • Pixel density from 50 % to 150 %, plus supersampling, world scale and custom MSAA resolution.
  • Foveated rendering, with an eye-tracking variant on headsets that support it. According to KUNOS, it wins back performance without a visible loss of sharpness.
  • «Prefer FPS over latency», to prioritize stable frame rates.

The sunglasses mode in VR still wasn’t fully tuned in 0.8. If you often switch between monitor and headset and want to keep several configurations, AC EVO Video Settings Switcher launches the game in the mode you choose and puts the matching settings file in place first.

Mods and tools for performance and image quality

  • ACEvoPerf (EVO 0.9 or later): fixes crashes when switching cars or tracks, a memory leak between tracks, blurry textures and slow menus. It also enables NVIDIA Reflex and raises the game’s priority. It replaces a single file, dstorage.dll, and is configured in acevo_perf.ini. Its author recommends setting textures to Ultra to get the most out of it. It’s EVO’s top-rated tool on OverTake.
  • RenoDX HDR for Assetto Corsa EVO: for HDR monitors and TVs. It rewrites the output shaders to deliver true HDR and adjust bloom, contrast and saturation. Requires ReShade with add-on support. It improves the image, not FPS.
  • AC EVO Video Settings Switcher: a launcher for anyone who plays on both monitor and VR on the same PC.
  • EVO-HUD and Live Telemetry Evo: they don’t improve performance, but they’re lightweight and don’t touch the game if you want on-screen data.

If it’s your first mod, the guide to installing mods in Assetto Corsa EVO explains what each type touches and what works online.

If your PC is borderline

  1. Install the game on an SSD and leave plenty of free space.
  2. Update your graphics card drivers.
  3. Turn on DLSS or FSR before lowering the resolution.
  4. Lower car reflections, shadows, grass, clouds and mirrors.
  5. Try ACEvoPerf if you get crashes, stutters or blurry textures.
  6. Play in borderless window mode if you use programs that draw over the game.

If your PC doesn’t meet the minimum, the original Assetto Corsa is still a much lighter option with thousands of mods.

Frequently asked questions

Does Assetto Corsa EVO run on a 6 GB graphics card?

That’s below the official minimum, which calls for 8 GB of VRAM, so it isn’t supported. Some players use it anyway: the ACEvoPerf author developed his mod on a laptop with a 6 GB RTX 3060. Even so, there’s no guarantee it’ll run well.

Can you play it on a mechanical hard drive?

It’s not recommended: Steam requires an SSD in both the minimum and recommended specs.

Does Assetto Corsa EVO have VR?

Yes. It supports SteamVR, Oculus VR and OpenXR, and since 0.8 it has a dedicated video profile, foveated rendering and a pixel density control.

Does it work on Mac, Linux or Steam Deck?

Officially, Windows only. Some users run it on Linux with Proton, but KUNOS doesn’t list it as compatible.

How much space does Assetto Corsa EVO take up?

Steam asks for 100 GB free on an SSD. Keep in mind the game keeps growing with every Early Access update.
