What this mod does
Real World Plates, by ExtraNoise, reworks traffic vehicle license plates in every state SCS has released. It’s a small mod, but if you look at the car ahead of you at a red light, you’ll notice the difference.
What it changes
- More accurate plate graphics, corrected numbering sequences, registration stickers and wear.
- Specialty and government plates, less common than regular ones, with ratios the author worked out from recorded drives in each state.
- Randomly generated vanity plates (added on October 16, 2026).
- County codes or names in the states that use them, more common in their own county.
- Out-of-state vehicles based on real data: in Nevada you’ll see lots of California plates. All 50 states are there and, very occasionally, territories, Canadian provinces and Mexican states like Sonora.
Compatibility
Tested with JazzyCat’s traffic packs, Realistic Vehicle Lights and Real Traffic Density. Since it stores data in the city files, place it above density mods. With Coast to Coast its states still show the map’s own plates; the author is working on it.
Heads-up about your truck
On trucks you already own, the design changes but the number doesn’t. To update it, change the plate in World of Trucks or buy a new truck.

How to install it
- Open the Real World Plates page on Steam Workshop and click Subscribe.
- Launch ATS and enable the mod in the Mod Manager.
- Place it above your traffic density mods.
- If you want the new number on your truck, change the plate in World of Trucks or buy another truck.

Common problems
Does it change my truck's plate?
It changes the design but not the number; for that you have to change it in World of Trucks or buy a new truck.
Do Mexican plates show up?
Yes, some from Mexican states, but they're rare, just like Canadian provinces.
Does it work with Coast to Coast?
It works, but that map's states still show its own plates; the author is preparing support.
Where does it go in the load order?
Above your traffic density mods.
