What this mod does
Gift Taste Helper Continued x2 reminds you which gifts villagers love right where you need it: when you hover over a birthday on the calendar or over a character on the social page.
Options
- Progression mode: only shows the favorite gifts you’ve already given, so nothing gets spoiled.
- You can share known gifts across saves or keep them separate.
- Supports all of the game’s languages.
- Configurable with Generic Mod Config Menu.
Why this version
The original Gift Taste Helper by tstaples is marked as broken on 1.6, and its own page warns that it’s outdated and points to this continuation. JoXW maintains it, building on Isi0’s work. Version 1.2.5 (February 15, 2025) is marked as compatible with 1.6 and Android, and since 1.2.0 it supports local multiplayer (split screen); the page doesn’t mention online multiplayer. It only requires SMAPI.
Nexus doesn’t link a Spanish translation, although the page carries the Spanish tag. If you want more info on each villager beyond their tastes, Lookup Anything also shows their favorite gifts, and NPC Map Locations tells you where to find them.

Requirements
- Stardew Valley 1.6.x (PC; tagged as Android-compatible)
- SMAPI 4.x
- Optional: Generic Mod Config Menu
How to install it
- Install SMAPI first (see its mod page) and launch the game once with it to make sure it works.
- Open the Gift Taste Helper Continued x2 page on Nexus Mods, go to the Files tab and click Manual download on the main file (Gift Taste Helper Continued x2 1.2.5). You need a free Nexus account to download.
- Unzip the .zip outside the game folder and move the resulting folder into Mods, inside the game folder (on Steam for Windows: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Stardew Valley\Mods).
- If you had tstaples' original Gift Taste Helper, delete its folder from Mods: it doesn't work on 1.6.
- Launch the game with SMAPI, open the calendar and hover over a birthday to see the favorite gifts.
