More New Fish for Stardew Valley

What this mod does

More New Fish, by Hisame and TrentXV, is one of the biggest fishing expansions for Stardew Valley. It adds 140 new fish, with original sprites by Hisame, that you catch with a rod or find in crab pots in many locations around the valley.

What’s included

• 140 new fish spread across rivers, lakes, the ocean and other areas.
• Quests for years 2, 3 and 4, with two elixirs whose recipes you earn as rewards.
• A monthly magazine in the mail with hints for finding the fish.
• Villager gift tastes updated for the new fish.
• Since 5.4.0, all roe works in the fish incubator.

Requirements and compatibility

It requires SMAPI, Content Patcher, Extra Machine Configs and Mail Framework Mod. Version 5.4.0 (December 12, 2025, 703 KB) dropped PFM support, added Extra Machine Configs as a requirement and fixed fish that couldn’t be caught; you need to delete the old folder before installing it. 5.2.0 was the 1.6 update, and the page tags it as compatible with Android.

It’s incompatible with [CP] Freshwater Tilapia, by the same author. There’s a community Spain Spanish translation. To see where each fish bites, Fishing Info Overlays helps.

Requirements

• Stardew Valley 1.6.x (PC; the page also tags it as compatible with Android)
• SMAPI 4.x (the latest version)
• Content Patcher
• Extra Machine Configs
• Mail Framework Mod

How to install it

1. Install SMAPI first (see its page) and launch the game once with it to make sure it works.
2. Also install Content Patcher, Extra Machine Configs and Mail Framework Mod from their Nexus pages.
3. Open the More New Fish page on Nexus Mods, go to the Files tab and click Manual download on the main file (CP New Fish 5.4.0). You need a free Nexus account to download.
4. Unzip the .zip outside the game folder and move the resulting folder into the Mods folder, inside the game folder.
5. If you're updating from an older version, delete the mod's old folder first, as the file says.
6. Launch the game with SMAPI and check your mailbox: the monthly magazine will give you your first fishing hints.
