What this mod does
Always Raining in the Valley, by HimeTarts, is a mini character expansion for Sunberry Village. It adds Sterling, Mia and Henry, with their own stories and over 1,000 lines of dialogue.
The characters
- Sterling (27) returns to the valley after a rough patch in Zuzu City and struggles to stay sober. He’s the only marriage candidate for now.
- Henry, his younger cousin, works on the family farm in Grampleton.
- Mia is a 26-year-old agronomist on a contract in Grampleton; the author plans to make her marriageable in version 2.0.
What it adds
Over 20 heart events (from 0 to 14), 16 repeatable dates with Sterling, 10 post-wedding events, over 60 outfits, letters, recipes and a dog, Max. Version 1.5.0 moved the characters to Sunberry Village.
Requirements and compatibility
It requires SMAPI, Content Patcher, Sunberry Village and Unlockable Bundles. Version 1.5.1 (April 21, 2025, 12.2 MB) is the current one. The author states compatibility with Stardew Valley Expanded, East Scarp and Ridgeside Village. It includes content warnings: alcoholism, drug addiction, suicidal ideation and some swearing. A Spanish translation by mardrest is available on Nexus.

Requirements

How to install it
- Install SMAPI and Content Patcher first (see their mod pages) and launch the game once with SMAPI to check that everything loads.
- Install Sunberry Village (see its mod page) and Unlockable Bundles from Nexus.
- Open the Always Raining in the Valley page on Nexus Mods, go to the Files tab and click Manual download on the main file (Always Raining in the Valley SBV 1.5.1). You need a free Nexus account to download.
- Unzip the .zip outside the game folder and move the resulting folder into the Mods folder, inside the game folder.
- If you want to play in Spanish, install mardrest's translation following its instructions and make sure it matches your version.
- Launch the game with SMAPI and check that there are no red errors in the console.

Do I need Sunberry Village?
Yes. Since 1.5.0 the characters live there and the mod requires it.
Who can I marry?
Sterling. Mia and Henry aren't marriageable for now.
