What this mod does

Life Cycle – Rival Heart Events, by nraittanna, develops the villagers by pairing them up with each other. Each couple is a standalone module with its own events, dialogue and schedule changes, and it can end in a wedding.

What it adds

Nine couples in a dating version: Penny and Sam, Maru and Harvey, Emily and Clint, Marnie and Lewis, Haley and Leah, Abigail and Sebastian, Alex and Haley, Elliott and Leah, and Emily and Shane.
Four of them have a married version: Penny and Sam, Maru and Harvey, Haley and Leah, and Abigail and Sebastian.
Events from 2 to 10 hearts, new dialogue after each one and schedule changes after the 8-heart event.
Optional wedding: an invitation arrives by mail, and afterward the couple visits town.

Configuration and compatibility

It requires SMAPI and Content Patcher; the married versions need Mail Framework Mod. Each couple has its own config.json to choose between dating and married; the author recommends Generic Mod Config Menu. Install only one couple per character and keep the wedding arc folder.

It’s compatible with Stardew Valley Expanded, Ridgeside Village, Polyamory and others. Town Gossip isn’t, unless you delete the Marnie and Lewis folder. Version 4.1.0 (April 24, 2024) is the 1.6 version. A Spanish translation for 1.6 is available on Nexus.

Requirements

Install first: SMAPI (Stardew Modding API) Content Patcher Mail Framework Mod

How to install it

Install SMAPI and Content Patcher first (see their mod pages) and launch the game once with SMAPI to check that everything loads.
If you're going to use a married version, install Mail Framework Mod from Nexus.
Open the Life Cycle page on Nexus Mods, go to the Files tab and click Manual download on the main file (Life Cycle 4.1.0). You need a free Nexus account to download.
If you're coming from 3.3.6 or earlier, delete the old files first, as the author asks.
Unzip the .zip outside the game folder and move only the couples you want (one per character) into the Mods folder, inside the game folder, along with the wedding arc folder.
To switch a couple to the married version, first complete their dating events and change Version to married in their config.json or in Generic Mod Config Menu.
