The Euro Truck Simulator 2 base map covers about 12 countries in central and western Europe, from the United Kingdom to Austria and from the Benelux to western Poland, with more than 60 cities according to Steam. The rest of Europe comes with ten paid map expansions, from Going East! (2013) to Nordic Horizons (2025), which add Spain and Portugal, Scandinavia, the Balkans, Greece, the Baltics and the Black Sea. As of October 2026, with version 1.61, SCS has three more expansions announced with no date: Iceland, Isle of Ireland and Soul of Anatolia. If you want to go further, free mods like ProMods expand the map with hundreds of cities.
What the base game map includes
Without any DLC you drive through these countries, according to the community wiki:
- The United Kingdom (without Northern Ireland), Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland and Austria.
- Most of the Czech Republic.
- Part of France (the north and east), northern Italy and western Poland.
- Bratislava, as the only city in Slovakia.
The base map doesn’t stand still. SCS rebuilds old areas for free in its updates: the most recent is the Benelux, rebuilt from scratch in version 1.59 (May 2026). It brings revamped Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Brussels, Liège and Luxembourg, plus new areas like the port of Antwerp, the DAF factory in Eindhoven and the E40 and A2 corridors. Germany, Austria and Switzerland had already been rebuilt before that.
Map expansions: what each DLC adds
| DLC | Year | Area it adds |
|---|---|---|
| Going East! | 2013 | Hungary and more of Poland, Czechia and Slovakia |
| Scandinavia | 2015 | Denmark, Norway and Sweden |
| Vive la France! | 2016 | The rest of France |
| Italia | 2017 | Central and southern Italy, with Sicily and Sardinia |
| Beyond the Baltic Sea | 2018 | Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, southern Finland and western Russia |
| Road to the Black Sea | 2019 | Romania, Bulgaria and European Turkey |
| Iberia | 2021 | Spain and Portugal |
| West Balkans | 2023 | Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia and Slovenia |
| Greece | 2024 | Mainland Greece and several islands |
| Nordic Horizons | 2025 | Northern Norway, Sweden and Finland, all the way to the North Cape |
Each DLC is sold separately and only needs the base game. If you play from Spain, the first one you’ll want is Iberia: we cover it in the ETS2 Iberia DLC. You’ll find the recommended buying order and the other types of DLC in our guide to Euro Truck Simulator 2 DLC.
Announced expansions
- Iceland: announced in June 2025. It will take the game to Iceland, with Reykjavík and the island’s Ring Road.
- Isle of Ireland: Ireland and Northern Ireland.
- Soul of Anatolia: the Asian part of Turkey, announced in April 2026.
None of them has a release date as of October 2026. Until they come out, they’re not part of the map.
How to view and use the map in the game
- Open the map: by default with the M key, or from the pause menu. You can change the key in the controls options.
- Plan a route: pick a destination on the map and the GPS calculates the route. The route advisor, which you cycle with F3, shows you navigation while you drive.
- Undiscovered roads: the map is revealed as you drive, and completing it is a goal for many players. Since 1.61 there’s an option called Proximity Exploration that, when enabled, discovers a small area around your truck, like the access roads to service areas, toll booths or gas stations. Secret roads only show their first stretch: you have to drive the rest.
- DLC areas: if you don’t own a DLC, its countries don’t show up on your map.
World of Trucks, SCS’s online service, isn’t a map: it’s used for external contracts and community events, which sometimes reward you for delivering in a specific region. We haven’t found an official SCS interactive map on the web; the ones out there are made by the community.
Mods that expand the map
Community maps are free and almost all of them need the official map DLCs. Always check the game version and required DLCs on their mod page.
- ProMods: the most popular map mod. It expands and adds detail to all of Europe and requires every official expansion. Install it with the guide on how to install ProMods.
- ProMods add-ons: Iberia ProMods Rework (Spain, Portugal, Andorra and Gibraltar), Portugal Rebuild, Poland Rebuilding and Bulgaria in Focus.
- Expansions to other continents: Beyond (TerraMaps) reaches Asia and Africa, and Heart of Africa adds Gambia and Senegal.
- Standalone maps: Project Japan, Peru Roads, JRR Indonesia (no DLC needed) or the fictional archipelago Grand Utopia.
- More detail at scale: German Regions Map 1:19 recreates regions of Germany with narrow mountain roads.
You’ll find them all in the ETS2 maps section. Some only go up to 1.60: if you’ve updated to 1.61, wait for the compatible version before loading them into your save.
Frequently asked questions
How many countries are on the Euro Truck Simulator 2 map?
The base game has about 12. SCS’s official website talks about a world spanning 37 European countries once you add the expansions.
Is Spain on the base map?
No. Spain and Portugal come with the paid Iberia DLC, released in April 2021.
Why do I have gray or undiscovered roads on the map?
They’re stretches you haven’t driven yet. They’re revealed when you drive along them, and since 1.61 you can enable Proximity Exploration to discover the immediate surroundings of your truck.
When does the Iceland DLC come out?
SCS announced it in June 2025 and keeps posting progress updates on its blog, but as of October 2026 it doesn’t have a release date.
Can I use ProMods without the map DLCs?
No. ProMods needs every map expansion it lists for its current version. Without them, the mod won’t load.
