- Peterbilt 389 Rework: overhauls the stock 389 with 389X parts, grilles, bumpers and eight interiors. Free on Steam Workshop.
- Kenworth T660: the T600's successor, a common sight in Mexico, with a factory cab and accessories, updated for 1.61.
- Real Traffic Density: denser, more believable traffic, with rush hours, quiet nights and density based on road type.
- Traffic Trailer Mega Pack: about 500 trailers from real companies that also show up as cargo on the freight market.
- Western Canada Expansion: takes the map into British Columbia, Alberta, Yukon and other western provinces; requires all map DLC.

American Truck Simulator mods for Mexico and Latin America
If you want to drive through Mexico, the community's go-to map is Reforma. In our American Truck Simulator Mexico guide we cover which DLC it needs, the load order and how it runs on 1.61. To round it out, there's Project Better Arizona - Reforma Connection, which links Reforma with Project Better Arizona, and Reforma Esterlon, a fictional country with Mexican-American style signage. Further south, Mapkalo swaps the United States for the roads of Colombia.
ATS mods by game version
Every major American Truck Simulator update changes files that mods modify, and a mod that worked fine on 1.58 can break on 1.61. If the author has marked which versions it supports and yours isn't listed, the game won't let you activate it until it's updated. That's why every mod page shows the tested version:
- ATS 1.61 mods (current version)
- ATS 1.60 mods
- ATS 1.59 mods
- ATS 1.58 mods
- ATS 1.57 mods
- ATS 1.56 mods
How to install mods in American Truck Simulator
- From Steam Workshop: pick your profile, open the Mod Manager and click the Steam Workshop button. When you subscribe, Steam downloads the mod and keeps it updated.
- Manually: copy the .scs or .zip file you download from the author into DocumentsAmerican Truck Simulatormod. If the folder doesn't exist, create it with that exact name, "mod".
- Activate it: double-click the mod in the Mod Manager and confirm the changes. Activation is per profile.
- Set the order: the game loads active mods from bottom to top, so the one highest on the list wins if two change the same thing. With maps like Reforma, follow the order its team specifies.
If something breaks after an update, the guide to installing mods in ATS explains how to track down the culprit mod.
Can you use mods in multiplayer or on console?
In Convoy, the official multiplayer, yes: every player needs the same mods the session requires, and the ones on Steam Workshop can be downloaded without leaving the game. Sound mods are only heard by you. All the mods in this catalog are for the PC version; if you're waiting for the console version, check out what we know about ATS on Xbox and PS5.
How we choose mods
We only add mods with an identified author and an official download, and on each mod page we note the compatible version stated by its author and the DLC or resources it needs. When an ATS update comes out, we check which mods still work and update the mod page accordingly.
