Here are 7 mods with sounds for BeamNG.drive: exhausts, engines, dashboard chimes, music players and voices for traffic and police. They're all free and each mod page links to the official Repository or the BeamNG forum. About the version: 0.40 came out on October 19, 2026 and two of these mods are already made for it; the rest list 0.39, 0.38 or 0.35, and we make that clear on each mod page.

The best BeamNG sound mods to start with

  • Universal Exhaust Tuner: tune the exhaust of almost any car with 13 controls and five presets, no dependencies.
  • Slim heNPC SFX: traffic drivers shout and police talk during chases, with 186 lines in German and English. For 0.40.
  • OpenPipe: Straight-Piped Percheron: a straight-pipe exhaust for the Cherrier Percheron, the truck that arrived with 0.40.
  • Start Up and Warning Chimes: startup, door-open, handbrake and low-fuel chimes for the official cars.
  • BGM Player: background music with your own songs in freeroam and in missions.
  • Old buzzy Covet sound: gives the Ibishu Covet back its old engine sound, the one from older versions of the game. Updated for 0.39.

What to keep in mind

  • Sound replacements: if two mods change the same engine or exhaust, you'll only hear one. Enable one at a time and keep the one you like best.
  • No dependencies: Universal Exhaust Tuner and the Start Up and Warning Chimes work on their own, without other mods, with the game's official cars.
  • Your own music: BGM Player and Roadwave read songs from a folder; you supply the files. Roadwave plays them from inside the cabin with 3D audio.
  • For a single vehicle: the OM936HLA engine is only for the Wentward DT40L bus and lists 0.35.
  • After 0.40: the game disables your mods when it updates. Re-enable them one at a time and test each sound in freeroam before adding the next.
