ETS2 sound mods

Here are 15 mods for sound in Euro Truck Simulator 2: packs that improve ambient sound (rain, thunder, tires, traffic), stock and open-pipe engine sounds for Scania, Volvo, DAF, Iveco or Mercedes, and mods that change cab soundproofing. Sound Fixes Pack and the rain mods are up to date for 1.61, the current version (1.62 is in open beta), but many engine sounds are still marked for 1.60 or earlier.

The best ETS2 sound mods to start with

• Sound Fixes Pack: adds and fixes hundreds of effects, from rain and road-surface-dependent tire noise to traffic, level crossings and wind. Free, no DLC and for 1.61.
• Realistic Rain & Water & Thunder Sounds: more than 40 thunderclaps, lightning and more realistic rain on the windshield. Version 10.8 by Kass, updated for 1.61.
• Iveco Cursor Stock Sounds: the stock sound of the Cursor engines for the Stralis, Stralis Hi-Way and S-Way, with a ZF retarder. For 1.56 to 1.61.
• Scania V8 Stock Sound: more faithful recordings of the DC16 and DSC14 V8s, with Opticruise, retarder and cab soundproofing. Free on Steam Workshop.
• DAF Paccar MX-13 Stock sound: the MX-13 and MX-11 of modern DAFs, redone from scratch and compatible with the DAF XD. Version 3.0 for 1.56 to 1.60.
• Scania V8 Open pipe Lepidas exhaust: a straight-pipe V8 with two tones you switch from the cab, for Scanias by SCS, RJL, JUseeTV and Fred. Version 3.3 for 1.60.
• Volvo FH Open Pipe Sound: open pipe for the D13, D16 and D17 on all SCS Volvos, by Slav Jerry. Marked for 1.56 and 1.57.
• Previous Soundproofing: brings back cab soundproofing similar to 1.42, with less reverb and an interior that doesn't sound louder than the exterior.

What to keep in mind

• Ambient or engine: Sound Fixes Pack and the rain mods change the environment and work for any truck; engine sounds replace the sound of a specific engine and state which trucks they're for, mod trucks included.
• Load order: Sound Fixes Pack should have high priority. Realistic Cabin Soundproofing is designed to be used with it, and Realistic Train Lengths requires it and goes above it.
• One sound per engine: if you activate two mods for the same engine, only the one higher up in the Mod Manager plays.
• Version: several of Slav Jerry's sounds are declared up to 1.56, 1.57 or 1.60. If the author declares compatible versions and yours isn't listed, the game won't let you activate it.
• Online: in Convoy, mod sounds are only heard by you.
• Installation: subscribe on Steam Workshop or copy the .scs to DocumentsEuro Truck Simulator 2mod and activate it in the Mod Manager of each profile.
