ETS2 truck mods: the best ones for 1.61

The best ETS2 truck mods for version 1.61 are, among the free ones, the Volvo FH 2022 by Sanax, the Volvo FH4 Reworked, the Renault Magnum Megamod, Big Stars (Actros and Arocs SLT) and the Mack R Series; and among the paid ones, Gloover’s MAN TG3 2020 and Renault Range T Evo. All of them list compatibility with 1.61 and none requires DLC. Below they’re grouped by brand, with what each one adds, whether it replaces the stock truck, its price and the version its author lists. Before you install a truck mod

• Standalone or replacement. A standalone truck shows up as one more model at the dealer. A replacement swaps out the stock truck: your truck gets the mod’s parts and, if you disable the mod, it goes back to the original.
• Game version. Trucks are among the mods that suffer most with each update. One marked for 1.58 or 1.59 may load in 1.61 or it may fail: test it first on a separate profile.
• Free or paid. Paid ones are bought from the author’s store (Gumroad or Sellfy) and copied by hand into the mod folder. If a website offers a paid mod for free, it’s an unauthorized copy.
• Multiplayer. In the official Convoy mode everyone needs the same mods. On TruckersMP several of them don’t work, as the authors of the Mack R Series and Engines & Transmissions warn (more in the ETS2 online guide).
• Load order. A truck’s add-ons go above it in the Mod Manager. You’ll find the method in the ETS2 mod load order guide and the basic steps in how to install ETS2 mods.

Summary: the trucks in this guide

Scania

Scania PGR-Series 2004-2018, by JUseeTV, recreates the P, G and R series Scania built between 2004 and 2018, including the 2009 and 2013 facelifts. It’s one of the most complete and most followed Scanias on Steam Workshop. It has two drawbacks: it weighs about 6.3 GB and its latest official version (July 12, 2026) lists compatibility from 1.52 to 1.60; there’s no official version for 1.61 yet.

Next Generation Scania P G R S Pack, by Eugene, starts from the game’s next-generation Scania R and S and adds the P and G cabs, new chassis, side skirts and spoilers. It replaces the stock R and S, and its latest numbered version is for 1.57, with fixes up to January 2026. Many add-ons support it, such as Kast’s rigids or Sebastian7870’s swap body carriers.

To dress up the stock Scania NG, haineons’ Scania NG Addon Pack adds painted grilles, interiors in three colors, exhausts and side skirts (free), and Gloover’s LightFix Light Bars add light bars for Highline cabs (4.99 €, version for 1.61).

Volvo

Volvo FH 2022 by Sanax is the most complete current-generation FH you can install. It’s standalone and comes with the Globetrotter cab in two variants, nine chassis from 4×2 to 8×4, 16 interior variants, a high-resolution digital dashboard and working blind-spot sensors. Version 1.1.18 came out on September 17, 2026, alongside 1.61. It’s free, with a paid Premium edition (20 €). It weighs almost 3 GB; if it clashes with graphics or mirror mods, move it up in the Mod Manager.

Volvo FH4 Reworked, by nakamura_ya, is the continuation of the veteran Volvo FH&FH16 2012 Reworked. It remakes the game’s fourth-generation FH with new bumpers, side skirts, roof bars, engines, gearboxes and headlights, and it replaces the stock FH4. Version 4.1.61 (September 20, 2026) is adapted to 1.61.

For something very different, Cristhian Cardoso’s Volvo NL12 EDC brings the classic long-nose Volvo that was a hit in Brazil in the ’90s, with engines from 360 to 500 hp (1.51 to 1.61).

Mercedes-Benz

Mercedes-Benz Actros MP3 by Dotec brings the third-generation Actros, which isn’t in the base game, with a model by Dotec himself and sounds by Kriechbaum. It has been on Steam Workshop since 2021 and has had more than 50 updates (the latest in May 2026), although the page doesn’t list a game version. If you want it with a straight pipe, Slav Jerry’s Actros V6 Open Pipe Sound is made for it (marked for 1.56).

New Actros 2019 by Wolli2017 is one of the most followed trucks on the SCS forum: five cabs, 15 chassis, OM 471 engines, six interiors with left- or right-hand drive and 40 original Mercedes colors. Its problem is the version: the latest one, 2.0, is for 1.55 (July 2025) and the author hasn’t announced another. On 1.61, use it only on a test profile.

Big Stars – Actros / Arocs SLT, by the WTD team, adds the heavy-haul Actros SLT and Arocs SLT as standalone trucks: 8×4 chassis in two lengths, Bigspace and Gigaspace cabs, selectable couplings and special transport plates. Version 1.9.3 is made for 1.61. It’s perfect for special trailers, but it only offers 8×4 chassis. And if you like South American trucks, Cristhian Cardoso’s Mercedes-Benz LS 1938 works from 1.51 to 1.61.

MAN

MAN TG3 2020 by Gloover is a standalone truck that sits alongside the stock MAN TGX 2020 and expands it a lot: GX and GM cabs, low deck chassis, 4×4, 6×2 with a lift axle (midlift, mini midlift and taglift) and swap body chassis, with sounds by Kriechbaum. It’s paid, 19.99 € on Gumroad, and later updates are free. Version 1.9 is compatible with 1.61 and the download is about 1.3 GB.

MAN TGX E6 by Gloover is the free alternative to the stock TGX Euro 6, with XL, XLX and XXL cabs and 4×2, 6×2, 6×4 and 8×4 chassis. Its version 2.2 (May 2026) lists 1.59: check the forum thread before using it on 1.61.

To tune the stock MAN: LightFix Light Bars for MAN TG3 (4.99 €, 1.61) and Tuning Parts by Harsha Customs (from 10 €, 1.60).

DAF

DAF XF 105 by vad&k is the go-to mod for this DAF. It replaces the stock XF 105 and adds a redesigned European interior, more chassis, cabs, paint jobs and tuning parts. Version 7.19 (March 2026) is for 1.58. A known bug: the right-hand-drive variant doesn’t work, so don’t buy it at UK dealers. For a straight pipe there’s Slav Jerry’s DAF XF 105 Open Pipe Sound, marked for 1.56.

For deliveries, Ventyres’ DAF XD Orten Safeserver turns the SCS DAF XD into a rigid with an Orten body and a tail lift, with catering and event jobs (free, 1.54 to 1.61).

Renault

Renault Magnum Megamod, by Krille, adds four trucks from the Magnum family: the ’90s AE, the Integral, the E-tech and the DXi in Euro 4 and Euro 5. It’s updated for 1.61 on Steam Workshop, doesn’t require DLC and weighs a little over 1 GB. The alternative that improves the stock Magnum, Renault Magnum Updates, only goes up to 1.56.

Renault Range T Evo by Gloover is a standalone Range T with variants from 2013 to 2024, T High, T Sleeper and C Flat cabs and sounds by Kriechbaum. It’s paid (from 14.99 € on Sellfy) and its version 2.7 lists compatibility with 1.61. If you stick with the stock Range T, Sogard3’s low deck chassis gets it ready for mega trailers (free, version for 1.58).

Iveco

Among the mods we’ve reviewed, Iveco is the brand with the fewest complete trucks. Iveco Stralis Hi-Way Improved, by Krislav, doesn’t add a truck: it improves the stock Stralis Hi-Way cab with a working tachograph, a CB radio and a phone with GPS (version 1.0, no game version listed). For the S-Way, Sogard3 publishes a low deck chassis with a 3790 mm wheelbase, marked for 1.58.

Classics and trucks from other continents

Mack R Series, by Harven, brings the late-’70s Mack R to Europe as a standalone truck: R600 hood with a short cab, animated interior, 6V92 and Mack E6 engines and Maxitorque gearboxes. It’s up to date with 1.61, and it’s not a truck for going fast with heavy loads.

The Volkswagen Meteor, also by Cristhian Cardoso, brings the modern tractor unit Volkswagen sells in South America (1.51 to 1.61). And to bring back old SCS trucks such as the DAF XF105 or the Scania Streamline, Ownable All Old Trucks (1.61) and Restore Old Trucks (1.57 or later) put them back on sale; don’t enable both at once.

Rigids, tandems and swap bodies

• BDF Tandem Truck Pack, by Flemming V: rigids with a swap body and a tandem trailer for 17 stock trucks, with more than 120 configurations. Free, for 1.61 and no DLC.
• Rigid chassis addon by Kast: Scandinavian-style rigids with Ekeri, Knapen, Närko, NTM or Toplift bodies. You need the base file plus one add-on per truck, for SCS trucks or for mods such as JUseeTV’s and Eugene’s Scanias. ETS2 1.58 or later.
• Swap Body Carrier Chassis Pack, by Sebastian7870: swap body carrier chassis based on real systems for 19 trucks. It’s tested on 1.61, but it needs the Krone Trailer Pack DLC and two mods by the same author.

Physics and engines for your truck

To change how it feels behind the wheel, Frkn64’s Realistic Truck Physics reworks chassis suspension, cab movement and trailer physics (free, version 9.2 for 1.60 and 1.61); if you use vad&k’s DAF, the truck’s author asks you to place it below the truck. Engines & Transmissions adds engines of up to 4000 hp and 24-speed gearboxes: fun, but not realistic at all, and marked for 1.59. Frequently asked questions

What’s the best truck mod for ETS2 1.61?

It depends on the brand. Free and already on 1.61: the Volvo FH 2022 by Sanax, the Volvo FH4 Reworked and the Renault Magnum Megamod. Paid: Gloover’s MAN TG3 2020.

Do truck mods need DLC?

None of the trucks in the table require DLC. The exceptions are specific add-ons: the Swap Body Carrier Chassis Pack requires the Krone Trailer Pack, and some parts of vad&k’s DAF XF 105 optionally use accessory DLC.

Do trucks marked for 1.58 or 1.59 work on 1.61?

Sometimes they do and sometimes they don’t, and the author doesn’t guarantee it. Test them on a separate profile and check their thread or Steam page in case there’s a new version. That’s the case with vad&k’s DAF XF 105 (1.58) or Gloover’s MAN TGX E6 (1.59).

Can I use these trucks on TruckersMP?

Don’t count on it: several authors, such as the one behind the Mack R Series, warn that their mod doesn’t work on TruckersMP. In SCS’s official Convoy mode, yes, as long as everyone has the same mods.

Is it safe to buy paid truck mods?

Yes, from the author’s official store (Gumroad or Sellfy, in Gloover’s case), where you also get updates for free. The copies circulating on download sites are published without permission.
