Assetto Corsa F1 mods: the best ones (2026)

The best Formula 1 mods for Assetto Corsa in 2026: current F1, 2005-2015 and '90s cars from RSS, VRC and more, free or paid, with version and requirements.

Updated: 3 Nov 2026

As of November 3, 2026, the best Formula 1 mods for Assetto Corsa are free and come from teams with years of experience: the VRC Formula Alpha 2022 (a hybrid F1 car with ground effect and porpoising), Race Sim Studio’s Formula Hybrid 2017 (studio quality, given away by its authors), Rock The Track’s Ferrari SF-24 for the 2024 season and, for the nostalgic, the Ferrari F2002 or VRC’s 2005 Renault R25. All of them download from OverTake.gg or from the author’s store. Here are the F1 and other formula single-seaters sorted by era, with their version, their size and what they require.

F1 in Assetto Corsa: why almost everything is a mod

Assetto Corsa ships with a few single-seaters from Kunos, but no complete Formula 1 season. The community fills the grid with two kinds of mods:

  • Real cars modeled by the author from photos and public data, like the SF-24, the F399 or VRC’s Williams cars. They carry real branding without a license, so they come with the unofficial mod disclaimer: the trademarks belong to their owners, and neither the author nor Holymod is affiliated with them.
  • Original designs. Race Sim Studio (RSS) calls its F1 cars «Formula Hybrid» and VRC uses «Formula Alpha» and «Formula Beta», with made-up names like McLenna MC22: they follow a season’s regulations, with no real teams.

On Holymod you won’t find mods that copy models from the official F1 games or use the Formula 1 logo or graphics, nor re-uploads: every mod page links only to the author’s download.

What you need: Content Manager and CSP

Almost every mod page recommends Content Manager, and VRC requires it for the Formula Alpha 2022. Custom Shaders Patch (CSP) depends on the mod: the Formula Alpha 2022 needs 0.1.77 or later, the Skip Barber needs 0.2.8 or later and the SF-24 needs a recent version (it includes a non-CSP variant). The mods from 2016 to 2019, like the F2002 or the Williams cars, don’t mention it. Heads up: the F399 and the SF-24 are copied by hand into the game’s root folder, because their author advises against the Content Manager installer. Downloading from OverTake.gg requires a free account; the steps are in how to install mods in Assetto Corsa.

Prices: free versus paid RSS and VRC

Every mod in this guide is free. You pay for the recent models from the two big studios. In Race Sim Studio’s official store, as of November 3, 2026, the Formula Hybrid 2017 and 2018 are free, and the Formula Hybrid cars from 2019 to 2026 have a list price of between £2.99 and £4.19 each, with frequent sales; their Formula RSS cars (F2, F3, F4 and historic) are in the same range. VRC offers the Formula Alpha 2022 and the Formula Beta 2008 as pay-what-you-want from 0, with an optional donation.

Current F1: hybrids from 2017 onward

VRC Formula Alpha 2022

The Formula Alpha 2022 is the most complete modern F1 car you can get for free: it simulates ERS, ground effect and 2022-style porpoising, with a lower-downforce C-Spec kit. It requires Content Manager and CSP 0.1.77 or later, and it hasn’t been updated since March 2023.

Race Sim Studio’s Formula Hybrid 2017

With the Formula Hybrid 2017, RSS gave the community the quality of its paid models for free: a 2017-style V6 hybrid with nearly 1,000 hp in qualifying and 24 original liveries. It weighs over 400 MB and is only available from the RSS store, which forbids redistributing it.

Ferrari SF-24 (Rock The Track)

The SF-24 is the only real-branded 2024 F1 car on the list: the studio’s own model and sounds based on real material, with the drivers’ liveries, helmets and race suits. It comes with and without CSP and is installed by hand. According to several users only the medium tire shows up; the studio’s other 2024 cars are on its Patreon.

Fantasy Formula E

rambokim’s Fantasy Formula E is the newest in the category (version 2.0 from July 2026, with a Gen 4-inspired steering wheel): a fantasy electric car somewhere between F1 and Formula E, with active wings, at only 34 MB. It needs CSP; if it spins at the start, turn off extended physics.

The V8 and V10 era: 2005 to 2015

This is where the VRC Modding Team rules, having continued FormulaCorsa’s work. The 2009 Williams FW31 has over 131,000 downloads on OverTake.gg and includes a KERS version; the 2015 Williams FW37 has physics and sounds built from scratch plus livery templates. Both are from 2017. For 2005, VRC released the Renault R25 and the McLaren MP4-20 on the same day, rated 4.9 and 5 out of 5, with the instructions in a PDF. Without branding, the Formula Beta 2008 is a 4-liter V8 with lots of downforce, and the McLenna MC22 and its sibling Ferrenzo F07 are 2007 F1 cars with fictional names.

The ’90s and 2000s: the classics

The Ferrari F2002 by btk150 and his team was mod of the year on RaceDepartment and has over 240,000 downloads; it’s from 2016, designed for the base game, and the 2002 season liveries are downloaded separately. Rock The Track’s 1999 F399 is from 2024, with its own model and sound; it works with or without CSP, but not with extended physics. For 1997 you have the VRC pair, the Ferrari F310B and the Williams FW19 (113 MB), with period helmets: if the game sends you back to the menu on loading, copy the entire AC Files folder into the game’s root folder. The 1991 Jordan 191 is the best rated of the group (4.99 out of 5) and includes paint templates.

Other formulas: to learn and for variety

  • Formula Ford Russell Alexis Mk.14 (1967): 92.5 MB, no wings and a 1.6-liter Ford Kent engine, ideal for learning to manage weight transfer.
  • RSR Formula 3: physics based on real telemetry and an original model; without its livery pack (a separate download) it shows up blank.
  • Skip Barber Formula 2000: the racing-school single-seater, with physics redone in February 2026; it needs CSP 0.2.8 or later.
  • MAD Formula Team MFTC3: the Formula Student car from Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, with a 121 hp EVO version.

The 1937 Auto Union Type C (4.98 out of 5) and the rest are in the Formula for Assetto Corsa category.

Which F1 mod should you pick?

  • A modern F1 car with everything: the VRC Formula Alpha 2022.
  • Studio quality without paying: RSS’s Formula Hybrid 2017.
  • A recent real brand: Rock The Track’s Ferrari SF-24.
  • Early 2000s: the Ferrari F2002, the Renault R25 or the McLaren MP4-20.
  • Learning to drive formula cars: the Skip Barber Formula 2000 or the 1967 Formula Ford.

If a car won’t load, check the CSP version its mod page asks for and then why Assetto Corsa mods aren’t working.

Frequently asked questions

Are there officially licensed F1 mods for Assetto Corsa?

No. The real-branded ones are unofficial recreations by their authors, and studios like RSS and VRC use fictional designs and names (Formula Hybrid, Formula Alpha, McLenna) so they don’t depend on licenses.

How much do the paid F1 mods cost?

In the Race Sim Studio store, the Formula Hybrid cars from 2019 to 2026 cost between £2.99 and £4.19 list price as of November 3, 2026; the 2017 and 2018 are free. VRC’s Formula Alpha 2022 and Formula Beta 2008 are pay-what-you-want from 0.

Is there a free 2026-regulations F1 car?

We haven’t found a free one from a legitimate source. The option is paid: RSS’s Formula Hybrid 2026, at £4.19 list price in its store.

Do I need Custom Shaders Patch for the F1 mods?

It depends on the mod: the Formula Alpha 2022 needs CSP 0.1.77 or later and the Skip Barber needs 0.2.8 or later; the mods from 2016 to 2019, like the F2002 or VRC’s Williams cars, don’t mention it.
