The best Assetto Corsa drift mods are free and split into tracks and cars. To learn, start with Okuibuki Motor Park or Sunrise Circuit, which have open areas and simple layouts; then move on to Japanese touge like Gunsai Touge, Usui Pass or Ebisu Touge. For cars, the WDT Street Car Pack (11 beginner cars) and the Nissan Laurel C33 D-Spec are the best starting point. Almost everything works better with Custom Shaders Patch (CSP) and Content Manager, and it can only be used on the PC version.
Before you start: what you need
Assetto Corsa already comes with a scored Drift mode and a track to practice it on, the Drift Track, according to its official Steam page. Mods add what’s missing: real Japanese drift spots, huge maps to cruise with friends, and cars built to go sideways. To use them you need:
- Assetto Corsa on PC. The PS4, PS5 and Xbox editions don’t support mods; we explain it in Assetto Corsa on PS4 and PS5.
- Custom Shaders Patch. It’s free and its official website requires 64-bit Assetto Corsa 1.16.3 or 1.16.4. As of October 2026 it lists 0.2.11 as the recommended version. Many tracks on this list require it or use it for grass, rain and night.
- Content Manager. The alternative launcher used by almost the whole community. The Lite version is free and includes the main features; a donation of any amount unlocks the features in development. It’s used to install content, manage setups and download whatever you’re missing when you join a server.
- A properly configured wheel or gamepad. With a wheel, set the steering angle correctly; with a gamepad, check the assists we recommend below.
If this is your first mod, follow the how to install mods in Assetto Corsa guide first.
Drift cars
WDT Street Car Pack
The starter pack from World Drift Tour, a drift community focused on Assetto Corsa. It brings together 11 classic drift cars in a «Street Legal» class: modest power, easy-to-understand setups and handling that forgives mistakes. The current version is 1.1, from February 2020, and it’s a free download from the official WDT website. It’s the best first step and a common pack on drift servers. View mod page
World Drift Tour Car Pack 2021
The 8 competition cars from the 2021 WDT season, with more power and more steering angle, balanced against each other in power-to-weight and grip so none has an advantage. It’s demanding if you’ve never drifted: use it once you can link corners with the Street Pack. WDT allows it in your own leagues as long as its logo and the link to its website are kept. Nissan Laurel C33 D-Spec
An eighties Japanese sedan built for drifting by DimonTF, with a model made from scratch: RB25DET engine with about 353 hp at the wheels and 456 Nm, two-way LSD and fully adjustable suspension. Being long, it’s more forgiving than a short coupe in transitions, so it’s good for learning and for online tandems. It’s 33.7 MB, needs no extras and its last revision is from 2020. View mod page
Other rear-wheel-drive cars to practice with
- BMW E30 Touring: the rear-wheel-drive 325i wagon, with an S1 variant that has an LSD and stiffer suspension. Many players use it to learn to control a rear-wheel-drive car. It doesn’t require CSP.
- Nissan Skyline R33 GT-R and GTS25t: besides the all-wheel-drive GT-Rs, it includes the rear-wheel-drive GTS25t Type M, lighter at the front and happy to let the rear axle play. Requires CSP 0.2.8 or later.
You’ll find more options in the drift and cars categories.
Tracks to learn to drift
Okuibuki Motor Park
A ski resort in winter and a drift track the rest of the year, which has hosted Formula Drift Japan, D1GP and JIDC. The mod includes those layouts, the parking lot 4 gymkhana area, a mountain route, a jump ramp and a skidpad to practice transitions. Version 2.0 is from October 2022 and is about 322 MB; the barrier-free variant for events is offered separately for a donation, but the regular download is free. View mod page
Sunrise Circuit (Tsukuruma)
A complex in Tochigi (Japan) with three layouts: the Tsukuruma Circuit made popular by Noriyaro’s videos, Driving Palette Nasu, designed for beginners, and a free roam mode of the whole complex. It has 90 pit spots, ideal for servers, and it’s 85 MB. It needs a recent version of CSP. View mod page
Drift layouts inside race tracks
- Oi Wharf: the Tokyo Bay port that was a nighttime street drift spot. A single map with every route and 32 spawn points, drift only.
- Okayama International Circuit: besides the GP, it includes the Formula Drift Japan layout, 800 m long with 24 pit boxes, no AI.
- Circuit Mas du Clos: includes an open drift layout, also in reverse.
- Tor Poznań: the laser-scanned Polish circuit has a drift layout created for simrace.pl’s Drift Corner.
Japanese touge
Touge are mountain pass roads, narrow and full of corners, where much of Japanese drifting was born. Almost all of the ones on this list are from the 90’s Golden Drift Spot Project team (skyflightmusic) or Project Kaido (antudusun).
Gunsai Touge (Gunma Cycle Sports Center)
The mountain circuit where Best Motoring magazine filmed its Hot Version tests, rebuilt from scratch by Project Kaido and with almost 300,000 downloads. Version 1.2 added summer, autumn and winter and is compatible with CSP rain. It’s 193.6 MB. If it crashes on loading, the most common fix is installing it by hand. View mod page
Usui Pass
A real, very twisty Japanese mountain pass, recommended for small, nimble cars. It has over 215,000 downloads with a 4.84 rating, it’s about 141 MB and it’s from 2017. One of the game’s classic touge. View mod page
Ebisu Circuit – Touge Course
The mountain course at Ebisu Circuit (Fukushima), the mecca of drifting: narrow, with tight hairpins and no margin for error. It’s only 58.3 MB, has a 5 out of 5 on OverTake and needs CSP. Best once you’ve mastered drifting in open areas. View mod page
More touge from the 90’s Golden Drift Spot Project series
| Track | What it is | Size | CSP |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mountain Futatabi | Mount Futatabi (Kobe), hairpins and 16 pit boxes | 214.7 MB | May fail with recent preview versions |
| Hakone Ohiradai | Upper section of Ohiradai, version 3.0, short route | 185.2 MB | The author warned of issues with CSP |
| Dousojin Touge | Route 42 in Ibaraki, current road and 1990 road | 173.5 MB | 1.3 fixes transparencies |
| Otarumi Touge | The closest mountain pass to Tokyo | 267.7 MB | Reviews report issues on new versions |
Big maps to cruise with friends
- Project Touge: a fictional mountain with 48 km of roads, designed for servers open all day. It’s a beta without AI or replay cameras; CSP recommended and 255.8 MB.
- LA Canyons: over 40 km of real Los Angeles roads, one of the favorite settings for group touge and drift. It’s installed by hand following the included guide; the VIP extras are paid, but the free map is complete.
- Kanazawa Free Roam: over 50 km inspired by Kanazawa, with AI traffic and the Owara Circuit as a drift track. It needs CSP 0.1.75 or later with GrassFX, plus Content Manager.
- Shutoko Revival Project: the Tokyo expressways, the sim’s most played mod map. It’s only downloaded from its official website; the stable version is 0.9.3.
CSP and older tracks: what to do if one won’t load
Many Japanese drift tracks are from 2018 to 2021 and don’t always get along with new versions of Custom Shaders Patch. Before writing one off as broken, try this:
- Try another CSP version. The author of Mountain Futatabi explains that new versions sometimes break the track and recommends an older one. On Hakone Ohiradai, if it kicks you back to the menu, try disabling CSP for that track.
- Delete the problem config. If Dousojin Touge looks completely snowed over, one review fixes it by deleting the
dousojin_touge.inifile from the track configs folder. - Install by hand. On Gunsai Touge and LA Canyons, the automatic installer or dragging into Content Manager causes problems.
- Delete the old version before updating, as Gunsai Touge asks when going from 1.1 to 1.2.
Assists for drifting with a gamepad or wheel
- Advanced Gamepad Assist: a steering filter for gamepad and keyboard that limits steering based on the tires’ optimal slip angle, designed for racing and drifting. Requires CSP 0.2.0 or later and Content Manager; don’t install it by dragging the zip into Content Manager.
- A7-Assist: a Gamepad FX script where the stick sets the steering force and the car self-corrects. The author used it with CSP 0.1.77 and confirmed 0.1.79.
- RasmusP’s LUT: removes the central force feedback deadzone on Logitech G25, G27, G29, G920, G923 and Driving Force GT wheels.
- LUT Generator for AC: creates your own LUT table from a WheelCheck test, for any wheel.
Drift setups
The WDT cars and the Laurel already come ready to go sideways (the Laurel, for example, with a two-way LSD and adjustable suspension), so you can start without touching anything. When you want to fine-tune, in Assetto Corsa setups we explain how to open the setup screen, where setups are saved, how to install downloaded setups and what to adjust based on what the car is doing. Change one setting at a time and always test it on the same track: that way you’ll know what improved.
Online drifting: servers
To drift with other players, join from Content Manager: it shows the content you’re missing and helps you download it. Keep in mind that:
- Many drift servers use WDT cars, so having their packs installed saves you downloads.
- Free roam servers with traffic absolutely need CSP.
- Shutoko servers require stable version 0.9.3 and the project’s free Car Pack.
- Kanazawa Free Roam has an official server open daily, which you access through the studio’s Discord.
How to find sessions, why a server kicks you and how to set up your own: it’s all in Assetto Corsa servers. And if you’re after other kinds of mods, check out the best Assetto Corsa mods.

Frequently asked questions
What’s the best drift track to start with in Assetto Corsa?
Okuibuki Motor Park or Sunrise Circuit. Both have open areas to practice transitions (Okuibuki’s skidpad and Sunrise’s Driving Palette Nasu layout) before you move on to a narrow touge.
Which drift car should I download first?
The WDT Street Car Pack: 11 street cars with modest power that forgive mistakes, and many servers use them. Once you can link corners, step up to the WDT Car Pack 2021 or try the Nissan Laurel C33 D-Spec.
Do I need Custom Shaders Patch for drift mods?
It depends on the mod. Ebisu Touge and Sunrise Circuit require it; Usui Pass, the Laurel and the E30 Touring don’t. Some older tracks even fail with new versions, so it’s worth checking the requirements on each mod page.
Can you drift with a gamepad in Assetto Corsa?
Yes. With CSP you can use Advanced Gamepad Assist or A7-Assist, two Gamepad FX assists that make the gamepad behave more like a wheel.
Are there drift mods on PS4, PS5 or Xbox?
No. Mods only work on the PC version. On console you have Drift mode and the game’s official content.
Do these mods work in Assetto Corsa EVO?
No. They’re for the original Assetto Corsa. EVO is a different game, which launched in early access in January 2025.
