Here are 17 mods adding formula cars to Assetto Corsa: F1 cars from different eras, F1-style cars with fictional names, Formula 3, Formula Ford and Formula Student. They're all free to download from their author's or studio's website, and each mod page links only to that source. They're for the original Assetto Corsa on PC (1.16), and on each mod page we tell you whether they require Content Manager or Custom Shaders Patch (CSP).
The best Assetto Corsa formula mods to start with
- VRC Formula Alpha 2022: a hybrid open-wheeler inspired by 2022 F1, with ground effect and porpoising. Requires Content Manager and CSP 0.1.77 or higher.
- Formula Hybrid 2017: Race Sim Studio's hybrid V6, with almost 1,000 hp in qualifying and 24 liveries. Free in their store.
- Ferrari F2002: Ferrari's 2002 F1 car, named mod of the year on RaceDepartment.
- VRC 2005 Renault R25: the Renault from the 2005 season, with more than 80,000 downloads and a 4.9 rating.
- RSR Formula 3: a Formula 3 car with physics based on real telemetry and two variants; the liveries come in a separate package.
- Formula Ford Russell Alexis Mk.14: a 1967 Formula Ford with no aero, ideal for learning to manage weight.
- MAD Formula Team MFTC3: the Formula Student car from Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, with physics from real data.
How to choose an open-wheeler
- To learn: start with the Formula Ford or the Skip Barber Formula 2000, a racing-school car (requires CSP 0.2.8). They have little downforce and are more forgiving.
- To race like in modern F1: the Formula Alpha 2022 and Race Sim Studio's Formula Hybrid cars. With the RARE app you add DRS and tire rules.
- Classics: the 1999 RTT F399 is installed by copying the folders by hand, without Content Manager's installer.
- Liveries: many come separately. The F1 season packs for the RSS cars are in skins.
- Fictional names: several VRC cars use made-up names even though they're inspired by real open-wheelers.
To install them, follow how to install Assetto Corsa mods. To adjust wings, pressures and gears, read the Assetto Corsa setups guide, and if you're looking for somewhere to drive, the best tracks for Assetto Corsa.
